The renovation of the old Pyrkal munitions premises at Imittos, which will bring together nine ministries and cut costs of housing them, will be auctioned at the start of 2022, officials said at an online press conference by the Development & Investments Ministry on Wednesday, ANA reports.
The new Government Park, officially part of the Dafni-Imittos municipality, will cost over 250 million euros and will be ready for use in 5 years. It will house the central services of 9 ministries and will save the state over 1 billion euros over 30 years from rental and other fees.
Currently, the central services of these ministries are housed in 127 buildings – 20 state-owned and 107 privately owned – in the greater Athens area. Rents, operational fees, and building charges exceed 33 million euros annually. The Finance Ministry, for example, spends nearly 6 million euros annually to house its services throughout greater Athens.
